TAKING ACTION

Capture emotion
A clear, strong emotion as a dominant theme is like an anchor that allows an image to be pass for a number of different.... okay For example, Like me seated in the office, the emotion here is relaxed , and it's recognize fast because I  kept the composition simple. Just on the phone discussing my next blog and how I plan to take
http://500px.com/LexPhotography  to another Level.  http://500px.com/LexPhotography

Choosing models
When I choose a model for my image I pick someone who is attractive. People like to look at attractive people. You don't want your subject to be 'model beautiful' although this girl in the photo can be! Look for someone who is good looking, but in a realistic, girl-next-door, everyday sort of way. Exceptionally beautiful and stylised people will steal the focus away from your overall message and it like fake boobs lol(Sorry) And from an art editor’s point of view, and I know  if the person or scenario doesn't seem realistic, the viewer won’t trust the product or service being sold. Trust me people its true and you know it!

Leave room for a logo
Even if you're shooting a portrait, a still life or nature scene, it can be a really good idea if you  take a few frames with extra negative space on either the right or left side of the frame or even on the very bottom of your photo but in this one below I left the top right spot open( your left). To some photographer's eye, it may seem like an unbalanced composition, but to an art editor or graphic designer it may look like the perfect image to add a logo to

Try not to rock to much trendy clothing!
Like technology, the clothes your subjects wear will also date your photos. Current fashion trends change all the time, and I was taught that if an art editor is looking at your images, she may like what they see but wonder why the couple in your photograph is wearing baggy or even tight lol clothing ... If using models, ask them to dress in classic styles that don't show their age – solid colours, blacks and whites, and especially no branding or slogans.

B&H

The photography superstore of choice for professionals and for those who choose to just do it as a hobby. The store, which is now in its third decade, carries everything from Canons to studio lighting  and film developing trays and many more. The used department upstairs also has good bargains you can't  really beat anywhere else. The store may seem intimidating at first, but the place is filled with the kindest  Hasidic sales staff members and they are so  helpful and knowledgeable about most of the products they sell.  I recently checked out a few cameras there , ranging in prices anywhere from $150.00  -  $20.000 and up! I really like the fact that B&H is such a hands on store, where you get to actually test out all the cameras and get familiarize with them. My favorite cost a whopping

AND just to think  that's only for the body. The Canon  EOS-1Ds Marklll SLR with a 5FPS BURST is sure to get you those jobs you looking for.

B&H also has many other brands of course to choose from. I was like a kid in  a candy store when I saw the set up, it was like the Willy Wonka  Camera Factory :) Whats really great is that a lot of other people I've ask are also very satisfied with the product and service, it's really fast and efficient!! But lets have a look at some more cameras

Save big, find the best prices around! A wide range of lenses for your Cameras

Once you've bought a new interchangeable lens camera - either a digital SLR or one of the new breed of interchangeable lens compacts typified by Micro Four Thirds - you'll  start thinking of adding an extra lens or two to your arsenal. This is the first step to realizing the flexibility of a system camera, but with the bewildering variety of options available on the market, you could be forgiven for wondering just why you left behind the relative simplicity of a compact camera. In this guide we'll lead you step-by-step through the process of understanding the different kinds of DSLR lenses, and choosing the right one for your needs. http://500px.com/LexPhotography

Format Coverage

Most affordable SLRs use APS-C sensors, which are approximately 24mm x 16mm in size, or less than half the size of the old 35mm film negative (Nikon calls these DX). However high end Canon, Nikon and Sony cameras sport so-called 'full frame' sensors, which means purely that they are about the same size as a 35mm negative, i.e. 24mm x 36mm (Canon's high speed professional cameras use an intermediate sensor size, called APS-H). Panasonic and Olympus, meanwhile, use the slightly smaller Four Thirds sensor in their interchangeable-lens cameras and again B&H can help you with further questions you may have regarding this. I would have to once again thank my professor Sabio for actually putting me on to this great Store that's like no other. I will most definitely be buying my next camera here.

500PX.COM        http://lexphotography.500px.com/      500PX.COM
If you’re an active photographer on social network, then i know you would have heard about 500PX by now – This is a really and i mean really kool photo sharing site that’s been gaining a lot of momentum in the past few weeks , and with today's all out  social sites,  this is another one of many that will be popular for a few weeks and years to come :) I've recently joined and enjoy the great shots I get to view by other photographer such as my self. The main focus of this site is  photographers and photography, Although uploads are unlimited for a payment plan of just 50 bucks a year. I would rather not post photos of family or  travel shots but then again its allowed on this site. Your  images will be able to also get a copyright ,so there for no one can actually steal your work.                     You Only Want To Post Your Best Photos
Limited Rights Required
Unlike so many "photo sharing" sites today, 500px doesn't require you to  give away your photos in order to upload them. They do require the right to use your photos for publicity purposes and the right to share your images with others for non-commercial purposes  ~LexPhotography I'm actually going to start selling my photos through 500px. I think it will go well as in the past I've had people who were interested in my work.
http://500px.com/LexPhotography

Drop Ship Selling
500px includes the option of selling your prints through foto  via a commission system. This  is so great because this place is so anti-FLICKER- because it actually allows you to SELL all your photos (at prices you set) directly from the site as well as display them much larger in a professional manner. They also scale your photos before uploading so don't worry about it! LoL

500px is about building your  portfolio and comparing it against other photographers' portfolios( But please don't let it get to your head now lol), It is not like an online marketplace and wont support the creation of events and galleries. I noticed that this site is more about getting your photos viewed by thousands and even more over  the web, with recommendations and ranking. People visit   500PX site to see photos and discover new things, SO TRY NOT TO JUST POST SILLY DAY TO DAY PHOTOS! as you would want people to take you serious!.
http://lexphotography.500px.com/

Ultimately I think this 500PX site is really great because look. .. .you post a few "best of" pics on 500px and use that to direct those interested in buying your photos right to your site:

The Discussion With Professor.

Hilarious !! Even freaking amusing how our high tech way of living has gotten us to where we are today. Steve Jobs or Bill Gates ( MACS or PC'S ) Which one do you prefer? Well I guess it all depends on the person... :) I had  the chance to sit and chat with my professor and discuss a movie we watched in class called ''Pirates Of Silicon Vally" which i enjoyed to the very end. Movies like these could never be over-kill. The Discussion. The professor asked me what i thought of the movie: Professor ,by the way what you think of that pirates of silicon valley movie?
    • Alex Ruiz
      • I think be gates has his way of Plagiarism then alters a few things to make it his own
      • lol
      • but it was a good film
    • Alex Ruiz
      • In a way wrong... For using someone else ideas then converting them into to his
      • but then again is that not what we all do to a certain degree
      • we feed off each others ideas
    • Franco Sabio Jr
      • but theres no law against that.....it wasn't an exact copy either. unfortunately that's business, isnt it?
    • Alex Ruiz
      • I just wish that Steve Jobs were a lil more humble
      • Then again with all that money and power is that possible ?
      • Is there any other great movies like that one will  be viewing in the near future ?
    • Franco Sabio Jr
      • well theres a couple that I used to teach but it became overkill, but to me they were interesting.
      • watch the youtube videos of steve jobs and bill gates being interviewed together.
      • entertainment at it's best.
    • Alex Ruiz
      • lol
      • kool will do, those guys were like rams at it (Head to Head)
    • Franco Sabio Jr
      • yea....they were subdued in the interviews but they threw a few jabs at each other.
    • Alex Ruiz
      • Who do you think you would give the credit to bill or steve
    • Franco Sabio Jr
      • bill gates is genius in his business model, but you lose control of the quality of your product when licensing.. Jobs had the right idea....build both hardware and software and you'll always have a better product.
    • Franco Sabio Jr
      • but Gates didn't care because the price war and competition didn't include him.....no matter which hardware manufacturer you choose, the operating system would still be windows..... the end. Thanks professor that was interesting info.  We will miss Steve Jobs ! There is a lot of stuff floating around the net about Steve like this picture below I've posted here which touched a lot of hearts!

    The Game Plan!

"I will have to set a goal ... So now how do I get a goal? I asked myself what do i  like to do.  I use to think that i  did not  know. You've been there, I'm sure. We all have. But eventually we all get out.
We each have within us a success mechanism that really wants us to succeed. It really wants us to get to where we want to go and in fact  if we learn to work with it, we can bring success to our businesses and ourselves rather Quickly ! So Hold the image of your Game Plan and your completion in front of you and then just keep moving forward. It will become obvious, from time to time, what must be done next. Then what you want to do is just hold that completed image of your Game Plan as your direction and do the next obvious thing. Once you have understood this concept , promise you should be good.
P/S  When you have set a goal for yourself whether it's short term or long  always envision yourself getting there. Use your creative imagination to see yourself attaining your goal like how I'm actually doing with my blog and college life!  911 REBUILD ~ Lex Photography

    BLOG # 1

That's right i feel like I'm  in the big time now that I've  enrolled into college. There are going to be heaps of things i will need to adjust to and  I'm very aware that I will need to spend more time on my studying. Party's right now are not on the top of my list as I feel I've wasted enough time, by now I  could have already gotten some sort of degree. After some while...I came to the conclusion that i better kick it into gear and think about my future ! So here I am Enrolled at TCI College , majoring in Digital Media Arts. The reason for picking this major was to study something I really enjoyed doing and since I'm really into Photography, Film , Acting, Etc. I thought Hey why not  Digital Media Arts :)

Its so exciting that I'm starting to also learn how to create videos with Ken burns effect with closing titles and transitions, thanks to my professor Sabio! I like his style of teaching and confident enough I will learn exactly whats needed out in the work field. Okay here is a few second video of what I've learned so far and it's only going to get better :)

    Motivation-
I believe that we all have something that motivates us in  a way..... but if I do not apply the process of deciding to try and attempt, or pursue something until it becomes difficult, then I'm  not motivated. Since attending TCI college I've become more patient and realized I shouldn't put to much pressure on myself. Next i need to come up with a game plan.... That's on Blog # 2 so stay tuned...

    Under the city

Ask New Yorkers their feelings about the subways, and some will talk about the dirt and grind or the crowded cars or the increasing fares and declining service. Others might describe the vermin that run the tracks and sometimes the platforms. But, thanks to Lex photography and the  MTA’s Arts for Transit, many will also praise the system’s underground photo's & melodies. This band here  rocks right in front of 42st times square  shuttle, so  you will be hearing  jazz & blue's  while on your way to work or wherever!.... Then at night
when ridding the subway, make sure you'll stay by Off-Peak Waiting Area, where Conductor's car will be the best place to be. If you live by (G) train, make sure you'll be on front car where engineer can see you.
    For safety reason:
    1. Put your backpacks and bags in front of you.
    2. Do not fall asleep.
    3. Never flash anything valuable.4. Try not to be to drunk!
    5. Just be safe and very aware !
Actually you don't really have to worry we live in a safe city :)
There are closed-circuit television cameras in Off-Hours Waiting Areas that are not in sight of the Station Agent. The camera enables the station agent to see you on the platform if you use the talk-back box.
Did you know the New York City Subway System is the largest subway system in the world. With 468 train stations & 26 subway lines and  I just found out to day through more research , It's amazing I learn something new everyday! LoL

    Getting digital !

With today's automatic digital cameras almost anyone, even you (Hey! It's just a joke…), can produce a sharp, well-exposed image, and almost professional. What will set you apart from other rookie photographers (like your friends…) is how well you arrange and compose your digital photos. If your subject is interesting, get close to it (It must be if your taking it a photo!). Your goal is to fill the picture area with the subject you are photographing. Up close you can reveal telling details, like the one here with Lex photography .  Don't let your pictures suffer from the "Grandma  at the Grand Canyon" syndrome, with a tiny subject and lots of boring, irrelevant space lol.... I love the photo here i shot of this guy on his bike.

     Try unusual angles

Be bold! Change your position to emphasize or exaggerate how big or small your subject is. Try turning your camera to 45 degrees before snapping a picture. Or instead of snapping it from eye level, kneel down or lie on the ground to get a more interesting shot. Or you can also move your camera right or left only a few feet to change the composition dramatically. With this photo here to your right , I  had the camera  leveled with the concrete! It was a raining day on the Lower East Side.

Look for interesting reflections and shadows

Reflections and shadows lend a touch of artistry to an otherwise plain picture. They can provide meaningful contrasts such as the one here i took by the lake. Or depth (such as the shadow of trees along a wooded path)(Lex photography )!

    Take a lot of shots

This tip is pretty simple and straightforward, but it is very important and can determine whether you come home with some good images or not. Let ME Lex that is stress this, "TAKE A LOT OF SHOTS!!!" It's just digital space, you can take a lot of photos and not worry about wasting money on film.

    Use leading lines

Select a camera angle where the natural lines of the scene lead the viewers' eyes into the picture and toward your main center of interest. You can find such a line in a road, a fence, even a shadow. Diagonal lines are dynamic; curved lines are flowing and graceful. You can often find the right line by moving around and choosing an appropriate angle. I JUST SIMPLY used the path here in this photo!
